OF PROPER

DIBAKAR PAL

Abstract

Spelling mistake is a serious drawback of a novice learner. Vocabulary enriches the writing. A student gets less mark for spelling mistake. But in case of proper noun this mistake is overlooked or considered. Now the question arises: What is a proper noun? They say the noun which can be written in improper way or not in proper way may be called proper noun. For example, Robin the proper noun is also written as Rabin. Both are alias but not akin. Both the derivatives i.e. Robin and Rabin though differ in spelling are considered as correct. It seems this difference and deviations are due to various pronunciations originating from various tongues. All tongues cannot twist identically. As such the grammarian allows this anomaly sympathetically. And the novice learners enjoy this independence of committing mistake properly.
