Abstract

Honey bee venom, derived from Apis mellifera, is a complex therapeutic substance with significant medicinal potential. This comprehensive review explores the bioactive components, therapeutic applications, and clinical implications of bee venom in modern medicine. HBV exhibits anticancer, antimicrobial, and antiviral activities, making it a promising candidate for various therapeutic interventions. The venom contains over 40 bioactive compounds, with melittin comprising approximately 50% of the venom's dry weight and demonstrating significant antiviral, antibacterial, and anticancer effects. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in treating inflammatory conditions, pain management, and autoimmune disorders. However, safety concerns, including allergic reactions and standardization challenges, require careful consideration.Evidence suggests that honey bee venom, when properly standardized and administered, offers significant therapeutic potential for various medical conditions, while necessitating strict safety protocols. This review consolidates current research on honey bee venom's physical characteristics, composition, medicinal applications, collection methods, and safety considerations.
