GREEN CAMPUS INITIATIVES IN AJMER AND BEAWAR: ASSESSING SUSTAINABILITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Abstract
This study paper assesses the execution and efficacy of green campus initiatives in higher education institutions (Higher Education Institutions) situated in Ajmer and Beawar, Rajasthan. Amidst worldwide focus on sustainability, campuses are becoming more recognized as vital arenas of environmental stewardship, resource conservation, & student understanding. The research seeks to elucidate the role of higher education institutions in promoting sustainability via waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, as well as consciousness initiatives. A sample of 150 participants, comprising students, teachers, and administrative staff from six universities, was obtained using purposive sampling. Data were gathered using questionnaires and observational checklists. Analytical instruments such as frequency distribution and the chi-square test were employed. The findings indicate differing degrees of dedication, with certain institutions demonstrating solar installations, digital systems, and eco-clubs, whilst others fall short owing to financial and administrative limitations. The research highlights deficiencies in awareness, infrastructural obstacles, and inadequate systematic policy execution. The report finishes with ideas to include sustainability into the curriculum, encourage behavioral modification, and implement quantifiable eco-friendly actions. This study enhances the dialogue on sustainable education & the function by educational institutions in addressing environmental challenges at the grassroots level.
