A STUDY ON GENDER INEQUALITY IN THE WORK PLACE AT MANAPPARAI- TRICHY(DT)
MRS. A. MALAR
Abstract
A major social and economic problem in many parts of India, especially semi-urban areas like Manapparai in Tiruchirappalli District, is gender imbalance in the workplace. This study intends to investigate the degree and kind of gender inequality in Manapparai workplaces across several industries, with an emphasis on factors including employment opportunities, income discrepancy, opportunities for advancement, and workplace atmosphere. Surveys and interviews with male and female staff members from different companies were used to gather data. According to the findings, women frequently have limited participation in decision-making processes, unequal access to higher jobs, and lower incomes than their male colleagues. These differences are caused in part by organizational biases, ignorance, and social conventions. The study's recommendations for actions to advance equality and diversity in the workplace include equal opportunity policies, gender-sensitive training, and awareness campaigns.
