LEARNING OUTCOME BASED PEDAGOGY IN MULTIDISCIPLINARY CLASSROOM

Abstract

In present era two new concepts are in trending in Indian Education System. First is multidisciplinary classroom and the second one is the new pedagogical aspect based on leaning outcomes. The new learning outcome based pedagogy is latest in India, and called Outcome based education also. The present research aimed to study the benefits and limitations of the learning outcomes-based pedagogy in Multidisciplinary classrooms. The learning outcomes are announced recently at secondary level of education. However it is introduced by Ministry of Education in 2017 for elementary level as a document named Prarambhik star par seekhne ke pratiphal or Learning Outcomes at elementary stage. The draft is prepared by NCERT New Delhi. The pedagogy used for achieving these outcomes is also known as Outcomes based education. For the betterment of quality of education the concept of learning outcome is decided to apply at all the stages of education one by one. Therefore after 2017 learning outcome drafts for secondary level is issued in December 2019. A multidisciplinary classroom involves the usage of educational materials and content from different disciplines to make the students understand the complex topics. The students understand the real world in a better way as they get to know the complexities and interconnections of their surroundings. The outcome-based education which focus on the learning outcomes require the multidisciplinary approach in the educational settings. It is concluded that the learning outcome-based education is a suitable approach for multidisciplinary classrooms.
