THE INDO PACIFIC AND THE REORDERING OF GLOBAL POWER: STRATEGIC COMPETITION, REGIONALISM, AND THE FUTURE OF WORLD POLITICS

DR. SUNIL KUMAR SUROTHIYA

Abstract

The Indo Pacific has emerged as the most significant geopolitical space in the twenty first century, shaping global power relations, security architectures, and economic networks. The region has become the focal point of strategic competition among major powers, particularly the United States, China, and regional actors such as India, Japan, and Australia. This paper critically examines the Indo Pacific as a new geopolitical construct and analyzes its implications for global order, regional stability, and international cooperation. The study argues that the Indo Pacific framework represents a shift from traditional regionalism to a broader strategic alignment driven by security concerns, maritime dominance, and economic interdependence. The paper concludes that the future of world politics will be increasingly determined by how power, cooperation, and conflict unfold in the Indo Pacific.
