Abstract

This research paper presents a biographical study of Sumit Kumar Valmiki, a prominent figure in Indian field hockey and an Olympian who rose from humble beginnings to represent India on the global stage. Through a qualitative review of news reports, interviews, and tournament data, this paper explores his early life, career progression, challenges, and contributions to Indian sports. It also highlights the broader socio-cultural impact of his journey, especially as a role model for aspiring athletes from underprivileged backgrounds.
