AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF DIFFERENCES IN EMOTIONAL MATURITY BETWEEN GRADUATE AND NON- GRADUATE COLLEGE STUDENTS IN RANCHI TOWN IN RELATION TO GENDER

Abstract

The intricate psychological experience of a person's mental state as it interacts with internal and external biological factors is known as emotion. Emotional maturity is a vital part of personal and social development. It helps individual’s manage emotions, build relationships, and face life’s challenges with resilience. The aim of the present study was to identify whether educational status and gender have a significant influence on emotional maturity among college students. The sample was selected from various colleges (20 graduate and 20 non- graduate students) of Ranchi town stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using appropriate statistical technique such as mean, SD, t -test etc. findings from both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis revealed that graduate students were significantly more emotionally mature than non-graduate students, suggesting that higher education contributes positively to emotional regulation and development. When comparing gender, females scored slightly higher than males in emotional maturity, but the difference was not statistically significant, indicating that gender alone does not have a major impact. However, when educational levels were compared within each gender group, both graduate males and females were significantly more emotionally mature than their non-graduate counterparts.
